With recent temperatures down as low as -30°C, we are extremely happy to have invested in Arctic-style clothing, as these fashion pics prove. Julie is especially pleased with her fur-lined Timberland boots, while my particular favourite is my Swany Toaster TS-16 Arctic gloves. Even in European winters, my hands would turn blue and all but drop off. No longer!
According to the Swany website, their Toaster gloves have an “outer shell that generates heat through absorption of visible and infrared rays from the sun. They also reflect wearers infrared rays back to the hand.” In other words, they have everything but in-built central heating! What’s more, there are two layers of protection, and you can unzip the outer mitten at the side to use your fingers (protected by an inner glove lining) for manual tasks. At $90 (£57), they’re not exactly a snip – but not losing your hand to frostbite is a price worth paying!

Avec les températures récentes descendant jusqu’à –30°C, nous sommes bien contents d’avoir investi dans des vêtements style Arctique, comme le témoignent ces photos de mode. Julie, elle, ne peut plus quitter ses bottes Timberland! Personnellement, je suis surtout content de mes Gants Toaster TS-16 Arctic de Swany. Même durant l’hiver européen, un peu moins rude, mes mains devenaient bleues et insensibles. Mais plus maintenant !
Selon le site web de Swany, les gants Toaster bénéficient d’une « carcasse extérieure qui génère de la chaleur en absorbant les rayons visibles et infrarouges du soleil. Ils reflètent également les rayons infrarouges du porteur envers la main. » En gros, ils ont tout à part le chauffage central ! D’ailleurs, il y a deux couches de protection, et on peut défaire la fermeture sur la moufle pour libérer les doigts (protégés par un gant intérieur) afin d’effectuer des tâches manuelles. 90$ (67€) les gants, ce n’est pas donné – mais ne pas perdre ses doigts est un plus qui vaut cher !
