FRANCAISComment la vie peut se transformer en trois mois ! Nous sommes arrivés au mois de février dans un pays froid, enneigé et peuplé de gens parlant un français incompréhensible. Et maintenant, il fait beau, chaud, et nous parlons couramment le québécois : présentement, c’est vraiment le fun ici !
Le hockey, ce n’est plus un jeu de mecs super rembourrés qui chassent une petite tache invisible sur la glace ; c’est désormais une bonne soirée bien arrosée au pub. Et une pharmacie n’est pas seulement là où tu vas quand tu es malade ; c’est aussi là où tu vas pour envoyer des lettres ou pour racheter des bouteilles de 5 litres de coca.
Le changement le plus marqué a été au niveau de la météo – et, par conséquence, au niveau de la nature. Je n’ai jamais habité dans une ville qui vivait autant en noir et blanc (en hiver), et devenue maintenant si verdoyante. Cette série de photos, prises aux mêmes endroits à trois mois d’écart, montrent à quel point les saisons peuvent transformer le paysage urbain…
ENGLISHWhat a difference 3 months makes! We arrived in February to snow, cold and people speaking incomprehensible French and English. Now, it’s hot and sunny, and we don’t just understand the locals; we’ve learned to liberally sprinkle ‘eh’s into our English, and speak the kind of French that would leave Parisians turning their noses up (even further).
Ice hockey is no longer a game for over-padded men chasing an invisible speck on the ice; it’s now a chance to get the beers in down the pub. And the pharmacy isn’t just where you go when you're ill; it’s where you go to post letters and stock up on 5-litre bottles of Coke.
The most marked change, though, has been in the weather – with a knock-on effect for the environment. I’ve never lived in a city that was so black and white (in the winter), and now so very green. These sets of pics, taken in the same places at 3 month intervals, show what a difference the seasons can make.
